The area around Garibaldi Lake is the jewel in the crown that is Garibaldi Provincial Park.  There is a large turquoise lake with glaciers flowing into it, wild mountain scenery, volcanic landscapes and colourful flower meadows.  No matter how often you experience this place, it is breathtaking every time.  The hike we had was a one-day trip that looped up through the meadows below Black Tusk and descended past Garibaldi Lake.  This area is deservedly one of the most popular hiking destinations in south-western BC

Mouth of Garibaldi Lake, water flows to Lesser Lake
The Lake elevation gain is 1470 M.  It is 4,850 feet above sea-level and that is why the snow (the glacier) behind us doesn't melt even in the HOT summer.

The water is intense blue in the summer
The water percolates down through a layer of scoria
The water is venting into Rubble Creek
Big trout grows here.  The water is so clear that you can see the fish swimming.
I caught a baby one.  I did release it back to the lake.
Lonely grey jay is watching us on the tree top.
Not so lonely anymore. His buddy is joining the party!
